For nearly 8 years, State Representative Mark Butler has worked hard as the conservative leader of House District 18, encompassing both Carroll and Haralson Counties.
Butler served as the Chairman of the Appropriations Human Resources Sub-Committee, which oversees all operations of the budget for several of the largest State agencies in Georgia: the Departments of Labor, Human Services, and Behavioral Health.
As the Appropriations chair, Butler worked closely with the Department of Labor to focus on the needs of Georgians. Learning from this collaborative effort, he used his experience to lead the charge to increase efficiency of state departments.
Butler’s focus as a fiscal conservative is invaluable to Georgia. Through his service and leadership on the Governmental Affairs committee, Health and Human Resources committee, and Industrial Relations committee, where he served as Vice Chair, he worked with other members to limit government spending and maximize taxpayers’ dollars.
Representative Butler supported legislation that reduces taxes, improves quality of life, and encourages economic growth, including the elimination of the state property tax, mental health Ombudsman, and the juvenile code rewrite commission. He was co-chair to the Human Resources taskforce which commanded the largest restructuring of State government in 30 years.
The Small Business Community depends on Mark Butler’s experience. He has worked with his family’s small business as a real estate appraiser for over 20 years and is committed to promoting business growth and development across Georgia.
Mark graduated from Auburn University with a degree in Public Administration. He is a member of his local Kiwanis Club and the Carroll and Haralson County Chambers of Commerce. Mark has two children, Sydney (13) and Blake (26) who recently served in the U.S. Army with the 101st Division. The Butler family attends Tabernacle Baptist Church in Carrollton.
